We are committed to the continued availability of financial assistance programs designed to relieve the financial burden of medically necessary health care services for those who need them most.

We ask each patient to actively participate with all financial assistance efforts by:

  • Discussing financial status with a financial counselor
  • Setting up and maintaining payment plans
  • Seeking all methods of coverage such as plans available through the Affordable Care Act
  • Applying for Disability/Medicaid

Financial Assistance Application

An application and all requested documentation must be received in order for program eligibility to be determined. A paper version of this application and instructions for completion is available in each of our offices and an electronic copy is available for download below. You will need to complete the application and provide the requested documentation to our financial counselor.

How do I begin the WMAP process?

Download, complete and return the WMAP application, or contact a Customer Service Representative or Financial Counselor by phone or in person. That individual will help you by providing the application, answering any additional questions you may have and informing your of the information you may need to supply.

How do I know if I can qualify for this program?

Wayne UNC Health Care offers assistance with medical bills for anyone who qualifies. A Customer Service Representative or Financial Counselor will ask you questions about your finances, such as total income, number of people in your household, monthly expenses, etc. Additional eligibility examples follow.

Why do I need to provide such detailed information about my finances?

This information will help us determine what portion, if any, you may have to pay toward your Hospital charges.

How does it work?

Once you have been approved for the program, you will be advised for what percentage you qualify. Depending on the changes in your circumstances, the application may remain valid for six months.
