da Vinci® Robotic Surgery
Until recently, most surgeries meant very large and painful incisions, blood loss, and long recovery periods. Minimally invasive robotic surgery, using the da Vinci Surgical System and the experienced hands of our highly trained surgeons at Wayne Memorial Hospital, offers a vastly improved experience. This includes less scarring, less pain, higher efficiency for the surgeon, and more importantly, a faster recovery for the patient.

Barrett’s Ablation Therapy
This procedure is often used for treatment of Barrett’s Esophagus, a precancerous condition of the lining of the esophagus that can result from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). When left untreated, Barrett’s Esophagus can turn cancerous. The endoscopic procedure delivers radiofrequency energy in a unique way that helps
ablate or remove unwanted, diseased tissue while minimizing injury to healthy esophageal tissue.
This procedure is considered to be a safer and faster treatment option for those with Barrett’s Esophagus.
It is also used to treat gastric antral vascular ectasia (also known as GAVE or “watermelon stomach”), a condition in which the blood vessels in the lining of the stomach become prone to rupture and bleeding.
The procedure can also be used for treatment of radiation proctitis, a condition that
can occur following treatment for malignancies in the pelvic region, including prostate and cervical cancer.
Advance Directives/Living Wills
You have the right to make choices about your treatment or to name someone you
trust to make medical decisions for you. These decisions should be made in advance
of any medical or surgical procedure you may have performed. A brochure that outlines more information about advance directives will be provided to you.
