The Brain and Nervous System
The Neurodiagnostic Center at Wayne Memorial Hospital offers patients
the latest technology for diagnosing neurological disorders, including
epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases, and pain related to spinal nerves and compression neuropathies.
Our highly trained technologists study and record the electrical activity in the brain and nervous system to determine if they are functioning correctly.
• Intraoperative Neurophysiology Monitoring (IONM) – this advanced surgical monitoring system enables the neurotechnologist to help the surgeon reduce many of the risks involved with surgery, correct problems that arise, and help the procedure go smoothly. IONM also lets the neurotechnologist work closely with the anesthesiologist to monitor how the anesthetic agents interact with the nervous system.
• Electroencephalogram (EEG) – sensitive monitoring equipment that records the electrical activity of the brain and assists physicians in the diagnosis of a variety of neurological problems from dizziness and headaches to seizure disorders, strokes, and brain disease.
