In Our Schools…
Wayne Memorial Hospital’s School Health Promotion Services Department promotes health and wellness activities that support student achievement for children in the Wayne County Public Schools system. The primary goal of the service is to eliminate barriers that keep students with chronic health conditions from learning and reaching their potential in the classroom.
The certified school nurses work closely with teachers, staff, parents, pediatricians, family care doctors, and the students themselves to develop individualized plans
of care. As a result of this program, students who would ordinarily have to miss school are now able to attend regularly.
