Clinical Trials

Wayne Memorial Hospital physicians and employees are key players in bringing important and revolutionary medical research to Wayne County through the Institutional Review Board.  This is a committee that meets monthly to review clinical trials (experimental drugs and treatments) and to insure patient rights are honored.

Community members from throughout Wayne County meet with our medical staff and key hospital personnel from departments such as pharmacy, imaging, pastoral care, case management and nursing.  This ensures that clinical trials benefit not only residents of Wayne County and surrounding areas, but also the global population when new cures and treatments become available.  The hospital provides all administrative support for these trials at no charge.  There is no cost to the patient to participate in a clinical trial.

IRB has reviewed clinical trials for:  Southeastern Medical Oncology, Goldsboro Orthopaedics, Wayne County Emergency Medical Services, Goldsboro Pediatrics, Wayne Radiation Oncology and others.
