Our Promise to You

Wayne UNC Health Care participates in several state and national quality reporting programs. We use this information to help us continuously improve our care and excel in patient quality and safety.

The Joint Commission

The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 15,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States, including more than 8,200 hospitals. Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards setting and accrediting body in health care.

Wayne UNC Health Care has the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.

NC Hospital Quality

The North Carolina Hospital Association provides reports for you on quality measures from hospitals in North Carolina and lets you compare hospitals within a certain region.

Patient Satisfaction

Wayne UNC Health Care also asks our patients and families to rate us on their experience at our hospital.

Like most US hospitals, Wayne participates in the national Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey (HCAHPS) sponsored by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the US Department of Health and Human Services.

We have partnered with Press Ganey to conduct our HCAHPS patient experience surveys, as well as all our other surveys regarding the patient experience.  Press Ganey is a patient experience company based in South Bend, Ind., and is the preferred vendor for all affiliates in the UNC Health Care System.  Patients are randomly selected to receive a survey through the mail.

Concern or Complaint

We recognize that we may not meet your expectations for care 100% of the time. If any patient or family member has concerns, these concerns should be shared immediately with the staff caring for the patient. In the event the concerns cannot be resolved at this level, the patient’s nurse will contact the Department Director who will work with all parties to resolve the matter.

If concerns about patient care in the Hospital cannot be resolved to your satisfaction through Hospital management, you may contact:
